MORE ON MENTORING
  • Mentors are selected for each student through the student's own relationships or through recommendations to MI. The goal is to match students to mentors as the Holy Spirit leads. Each mentor then completes an application before receiving a personal interview and training. Mentors meet four times during the year and each mentor has a personal coach for support and counsel.
  • Mentors and their students sign and submit a mentoring covenant.
  • Both mentors and students submit one oral and two written assessments of their mentoring process.
  • A mentor agrees to meet with a student once a week for the school year (a nine-month commitment). The mentor and student work out a time that is mutually acceptable. If both parties wish to continue into the summer, they may do so. The mentoring relationships are reviewed yearly and a new covenant is created.
